Under ski or snowboard trousers, the women’s X V7 combines padding at the tailbone, seat, hip area and thighs. Its short cut leaves you to choose whether and how to add knee padding. That is useful if you already have knee pads that fit well or prefer less fabric around your lower legs. An adjustable waistband and separate comfort foam give you ways to fit this padded layer with your own outer trousers.
What is fixed and what can be adjusted?
A D3O T6 Hip insert is permanently sewn in at the tailbone and buttocks. Ordinary Plush foam cushions the hip area and thighs, with removable TPS comfort foam in addition. This distinction matters for fitting and care: the D3O insert stays fixed in the shorts, while only the designated comfort foam can be adjusted and removed.
At the seat, the fixed T6 insert is 9 mm thick, with a thin shell integrated into it. D3O bends during ordinary movements and responds to rapid compression with greater resistance. Softer Plush foam at the sides and thighs supplements this central component; assess the whole material layout when trying the shorts.
T.P.S. V2 stands for Total Padding System. A.I. Plush Padding™ (Air Pad Integrated) names the comfort-padding construction with air channels. Lycra and mesh form the stretch garment. Neither A.I. nor TPS means that every padded panel contains D3O. Separately, the black TPS comfort insert has a stated adjustment range of 2 inches, about 5 cm, in several directions. This lets you position the extra soft cushioning where it feels comfortable, for example when sitting to fasten a snowboard binding.
Air channels divide the A.I. comfort padding, allowing the foam layer to yield with movement and air to circulate through its structure. Mesh supports air and moisture transfer through the carrier, with Lycra providing stretch. Compared with V6, the yellow Rogers foam layer has been replaced by softer foam.
Set the waist without distorting the shorts
Two overlapping straps form C.B.I.S., the Cross-Belt Integration System. The overlapping straps share tension around the waist and help limit sagging and rotation during movement. Fasten them evenly and check comfort when sitting and crouching. Excessive tension can create pressure or pull the fabric out of shape. Start with the women’s size chart: waist adjustment refines an appropriate size rather than making the wrong size fit.
Movements that reveal the fit
On snow, the short cut is a deliberate choice to keep parts of your outfit independent. While buckling your snowboard, the tailbone and seat sit over their padded zone, while the knees remain free or use separate pads. The adjustable TPS insert adds seated comfort. For ski days, you can likewise choose the knee area separately; check that a hem does not press against a separate pad when you bend.
Cycling gives the same padding an additional contact point with the saddle. Consider more than waist fit: another pair of cycling shorts with a chamois changes the amount of material between your body and saddle. Try that combination seated and out of the saddle before choosing it for a longer ride. X V7 is not a cycling short with a built-in chamois.
Combining and caring for the shorts
X-Connect links the shorts to a compatible Demon X-Series top from V4 through V7. Check the fittings on your top. Separate knee pads can be chosen independently, but the complete combination still needs to move comfortably under your trousers.
For care, remove only the designated comfort inserts and never open the seams around the D3O. Hand-wash the textile in cold water with mild detergent. Wipe removed padding with a damp cloth only, without cleaning products. Air-dry everything completely at room temperature in a ventilated place, away from direct sunlight. Do not machine-wash, tumble-dry or apply direct heat. Do not bleach, wring, spin, iron or dry-clean. Do not use fabric softener. Do not wash or soak removed inserts.
Intended for non-motorised cycling and snow sports at a recreational pace, not motorsports. The shorts can cushion mild impacts and reduce superficial injury, but cannot prevent serious injury. Inspect padding, seams and fastenings before each use and after an impact. Replace damaged equipment and, after an impact, replace it if in doubt.

Questions and answers
- Can the waist adjustment compensate for several sizes?

No. The straps fine-tune shorts that fit in the first place. If the fabric and padding fold or the waist needs excessive tightening, reassess the size.
- Does the women’s model also have the fixed D3O insert?

Yes. The manufacturer describes a sewn-in T6 Hip at the tailbone and buttocks for this version. The additional TPS foam is a separate component.
- Should I choose Shorts or the longer X V7 Pants?

Choose Shorts for uncovered knees or independently fitted knee pads. The Pants add a longer garment and foam knee padding; that does not mean D3O knee inserts.
- Does X-Connect automatically give the correct fit?

No. Check that the shorts fit comfortably on their own first. Then assess the connection to a compatible top, particularly when bending and sitting.

Use the same outer trousers when comparing sizes. A different waistband can change where layered fabric presses even when the padded shorts themselves sit in the same position.
